At Sprucedale Care Centre, Strathroy on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, Katherine (Kay) Elliott (Juba) of Strathroy in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Clifford (Cliff) Elliott (August 4, 1983). Leaving behind her step children , grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brothers, nieces and nephews. She was born in Yorkton Saskatchewan on May 9, 1914. Visitation will be held at Denning Bros Funeral Home, 32 Metcalfe St. W, Strathroy on Friday Sept. 3, 2010 from 10-11 a.m. when a Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Boose officiating. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, London. In memory of Kay, donations may be made to the Strathroy Hospital or Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Haskett, Ernest Clarence
Peacefully at Craigwiel Gardens, Ailsa Craig on Friday, August 27, 2010. Ernest Clarence Haskett of Ailsa Craig in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Helen Noreen Haskett (McAlpine). Dearly loved father of Darlene Smith (Len) of Stratford, Doris Simone (late John) of London and Maryanne Clark of Stratford. Cherished grandfather of Tim Taylor (Jodilynn), Chris Taylor (Lisa), Andrew Taylor (Amy), Erin Simone, Chantell Clark, Chad Clark and Matthew Simone and great grandfather of Brittany, Nicholas, Wyatt, Samantha, Lorne and Ella. Dear brother of Florence Young (Jim), Donna Mills (Lloyd), Margaret Rose Lizmore (Charles), Janet Haskett (Jim) and Sandra di Domenico (Louie). Predeceased by his daughter Anne, grandsons; Jeffery Taylor and Kyle Clark, sister Edna Hobden and brother Robert Haskett (Cathy). Visitation will be held at the T. Stephenson & Son Funeral Home, Ailsa Craig on Monday, August, 30 from 11 am till 1 PM when a funeral service will be held with Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Interment to follow in Medway Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Bennett, William "Bill"
With great sorrow, our family wishes to announce the passing of William Daniel (Bill) Bennett, in his 67th year. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Lillian Beth (née Patterson) and two grown sons, Jeffery and Joshua. Bill is survived by his siblings: Bob (Maxine) of Sherwood Park, AB, Kay (Roy) Wardell of Kerwood, Frank (Marcia) of Kilworth, Ted of London, Joan of Strathroy, Patricia of Strathroy, and Mary (Lonny) Popiel of Sherwood Park, AB. He is predeceased by his parents, George in 1972 and Rose (née Stortz) in 1991, and by his sister Susan Patterson (Rob) in 2003. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Helen Patterson of Caradoc Twp., best friend Larry Coates of Strathroy, and by many nieces and nephews. Bill had not enjoyed good health in recent months due to an aggressive and rare form of cancer. He will be sorely missed by all of us who must now carry on without him. Visitation will be held at Denning Bros. Funeral Home on Friday, 27th August from 2-4 & 7-9 pm with Vigil prayers at 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Strathroy on Saturday, 28th August at 10:30 am with Fr. John Sharp officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hayter Foundation for Plumbing and HVAC apprenticeships would be appreciated. A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Bill. “Length of days is not what makes age honourable, nor number of years the true measure of life.”

Peacefully at his home in Strathroy, with his family at his side, on Tuesday August 24, 2010, Theodore (Theo) A. Verstraten, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of 56 years to Netty Verstraten (Berkelmans). Loving father and grandfather of Corne and Debbie of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia: Brian, Heather and Shawna Verstraten; Ann and Gerald of Stoney Plain, Alberta: Anita, Theresa, Melissa and John Snoeks; Gerry and Trish of Grande Cache, Alberta: Natasha and Jason Verstraten; Francis and Polly of Amherst, Nova Scotia: Christie, Rob and Teresa Verstraten; Joe Verstraten and Ellen of Mississauga: Chace; Doreen and Mike of Watford: Christine, Mark, Matt and Chad Verberne; Mary and Michael of Alvinston: Sarah, Kaitlyn and Kevin Tizzard; Pat and Jackie of Watford: Darcy, Kyle and Malcolm Verstraten; Annette of Ailsa Craig: Ryan and Evan Garrett. Also missed by three great-grandchildren: Jayden, Keegan and Riley. He is survived by his sisters Marie and Tonnie in Holland. Predeceased by a sister Wilhelmina and brother Antonius. Theo was born in Nijnsel, Holland on October 22, 1922 to his parents Cornelis and Theodora Verstraten. Visitation will be held at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, 32 Metcalfe St. W, Strathroy on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m with Parish Prayers at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, 124 Front St. E, Strathroy, on Thursday August 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Father Lucio Couto officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. In memory of Theo, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Pincombe, Mary Ellen
Surrounded by her family at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Sunday, August 22, 2010, Mary Ellen Pincombe (MacDonald) in her 75th year. Beloved wife of Graham of Strathroy for 50 years. Loving mother of Joni of Calgary, Steve (2003) and Rob (Kim) of London. Cherished nana of Sarah, Amber, Victoria and Candace, and great-grandmother of Kalista and Wesley. Dear sister of Gene MacDonald of New Jersey and Norma Talbot of London. She will be dearly missed by many family and friends. In accordance with Mary Ellen's wishes, cremation has taken place. Loving father and mentor to Alan (Elenaide) and Hilda Calcutt. Proud and loving Grandpa to Nadyeine and Adriana Calcutt. Uncle Buck to numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by his parents Norman and Margaret (Young) Calcutt, and brothers Ernest, Donald and Ronald Calcutt. Suddenly, due to a heart attack, at his residence, on Thursday, August 12, 2010. James (Jim) Leo Salomons in his 49th year was taken home to be with the Lord. Beloved son of Hilda Salomons (late Klaas) of Kerwood. Loving brother of Tinie (Bert) Van Rooyen of Forest, Henry (Alice) of Strathroy, Charly (Alice) of Strathroy, Ed (Freda) of Alberta, Grace (Klaas) Reyneveld of Florida, Rita (Zegert) Van Rooyen of Thedford, Jerry (Millie) of Strathroy, Wendy of Kerwood and Ben (Dawn) of Glencoe. Special friend to Laura. Jim was a wonderful and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and they will sadly miss him. Peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Monday August 9, 2010, Winnifred Mary Miehm of Strathroy passed away surrounded by her loving family. Dearly beloved wife of the late Bernard Miehm (March 2000). Dearly loved mother of David Miehm and his wife Clara of Toronto, Peter Miehm and his wife Lois of Barrie and Margaret Gooder of Strathroy. Loving and cherished "Grandma" of Douglas and his wife Claudia, and Robert and Colleen all of Toronto, Michael of Barrie, Kristopher of Vancouver, Mark of Barrie, and loving and cherished "Gram" of Christine Jernigan and her husband John of Wilmington, North Carolina, Michael Thomson and Jenn of Forest and Ian Thomson and his wife Alisha of Strathroy. Proud and loving great grandmother of Alexia and Nicole Miehm of Toronto and Braeden and Mackenzie Thomson of Strathroy. Survived by her loving brothers Bob Conyard and his wife Irene, Rev. Kenneth Conyard and his wife Joan of Sauble Beach, Gerald Conyard of Goderich and her loved sister Ferne Conyard of London and sister in law Jeannette Fleming of New Hamburg. Predeceased by her infant sister Elizabeth, dearly loved brothers Alfred and his wife Marg, Leonard and his wife Marie, her brother in law Arthur Mihm, sisters in law Edna, Georgina, Victoria, Alberta and Beatrice. Winnie was born in Stratford, ON. on October 8, 1920, daughter of the late Henry and Amy (Ward) Conyard. She graduated from Stratford Normal School in 1939 and taught in a one room rural school house near New Hamburg until her marriage in August 1941. She was the best Mom, the dearest Grandma and Gram, the most wise and kind person who cherished her family and her friends. Visitation will be held at DENNING BROS. FUNERAL HOME 32 METCALFE ST W. STRATHROY on Friday from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ALL SAINTS ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, FRONT ST E. STRATHROY on Saturday August 14, 2010 at 10:00 am with Father Lucio Couto officiating. Interment Riverside Memorial Cemetery New Hamburg, ON.
